Job Description

The Head of Engineering Department will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership across the Company’s multidisciplinary engineering function. The role will oversee Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Geological engineering teams and ensure the successful planning, design, optimization, and execution of renewable energy and infrastructure projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
The position will play a critical role in driving technical excellence, ensuring compliance with industry standards, supporting project development and investment decisions, and strengthening engineering governance across the organization.

Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Departmental Leadership
Lead and manage the Engineering Department, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, project development priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
Establish engineering standards, methodologies, workflows, and quality assurance frameworks across all engineering disciplines.
Provide technical governance, validation, and final review of engineering concepts, designs, and key technical decisions.
Provide technical input to senior management for project prioritization, investment evaluations, and risk mitigation strategies.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement through adoption of emerging renewable energy technologies and engineering best practices.

Project Development, Design, and Optimization
Oversee preliminary layouts, conceptual designs, and energy modeling activities, including PV system sizing, interconnection voltage selection, and equipment selection.
Review and evaluate site constraints through drawings, topographic surveys, shading analysis, electrical one-line diagrams, and related technical documentation.
Support optimization and value engineering of solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, including layout refinement, loss factor assessment, clipping analysis, degradation modeling, and operational performance evaluation.
Assist development teams with technical inputs required for permitting, grid interconnection, and regulatory approvals.
Support validation of energy yield models and performance forecasts, ensuring robust technical assumptions and preparation of concise technical summaries for internal stakeholders and investment decision-making.

Project Execution and Engineering Governance
Oversee engineering deliverables across all project phases, including pre-feasibility, feasibility, FEED, EPC, commissioning, and handover.
Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for EPC contractors, consultants, and field teams, including management of Requests for Information (RFIs).
Conduct comprehensive QA/QC reviews of preliminary designs and plan sets to ensure constructability, design consistency, and compliance with technical standards and applicable regulations.
Coordinate technical interfaces between internal stakeholders, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, and technology providers.
Maintain accurate as-built documentation, open items registers, and engineering change tracking systems.
Develop and implement standardized templates, design review procedures, and engineering checklists to improve consistency and quality control.
Collaborate with Project Managers during pre-construction and construction phases to ensure effective technical information flow and minimize implementation risks.

Technical Due Diligence and Commercial Support
Evaluate technical aspects of project acquisition opportunities through review of data rooms, engineering designs, and technical documentation.
Identify engineering risks, design gaps, cost exposures, and technical constraints during due diligence activities.
Support Project Development and Project Finance teams by contributing to construction cost estimates, technical risk assessments, and investment evaluation processes.
Provide engineering expertise in tender evaluations, contract negotiations, and contractor selection processes.

Team and Stakeholder Management
Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams comprising Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Geological engineers.
Define organizational structure, allocate resources, and manage engineering workloads across multiple concurrent projects.
Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering personnel while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Manage engineering subcontractors and external technical service providers by defining scopes of work, monitoring schedules and deliverables, and ensuring proper documentation and closure of review comments.
Engage subject matter experts across technical disciplines as required to support project delivery and innovation initiatives.

Risk Management, Compliance, and Process Improvement
Identify and manage engineering risks throughout project development and execution stages.
Ensure compliance with local and international engineering standards, grid requirements, HSE regulations, and best industry practices.
Develop tools, workflows, and digital solutions that enhance engineering efficiency, data quality, and cross-functional coordination.

Requirements :

Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications will be considered an advantage.

Professional Experience
Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience, including significant leadership and managerial responsibilities.
Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
Strong experience leading engineering activities throughout project development, design, and construction phases.
Experience in energy projects, including solar PV, wind, BESS, or hybrid power systems, is strongly preferred.
Proven track record in technical due diligence, project optimization, and engineering risk management.

Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of solar PV systems, BESS technologies, and electrical design principles.
Solid knowledge of power engineering fundamentals relevant to renewable power plants, including collection systems, MV/HV infrastructure, and grid interconnection concepts.
Demonstrated experience with energy modeling tools such as PVSyst, WindPro, or equivalent platforms, including irradiance modeling, loss assumptions, weather data utilization, and uncertainty analysis.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and engineering modeling tools.
Strong understanding of design documentation, constructability assessments, and engineering QA/QC procedures.
