Job Description
A Senior Planning Engineer in the oil and gas sector manages complex schedules for major energy projects. They oversee engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) phases for both onshore and offshore facilities.
Responsibilities :
Key Responsibilities
Build detailed EPCC master schedules using Primavera P6 for upstream, midstream, or downstream assets.
Track engineering deliverables, equipment procurement lead times, and on-site construction work.
Monitor critical paths for shutdown, turnaround, and outage (STO) events to minimize production downtime.
Earned Value Management (EVM) tracking to measure schedule variance and cost performance.
Run quantitative schedule risk analysis (QSRA) to predict and mitigate project delays.
Coordinate with materials management to align bulk materials and long-lead equipment delivery with construction needs.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports including S-curves, histograms, and KPIs for asset owners.
Manage the team of planners; interface with the company engineering and project management teams
Requirements :
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (mandatory).
8 to 12 years of planning experience specifically in oil, gas, or petrochemical projects. Preferably at the contractor’s side (mandatory).
Mastery of Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, and advanced MS Excel. (mandatory)
Deep knowledge of oil and gas engineering standards, safety regulations, and offshore/onshore work constraints (mandatory)
Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) is highly preferred
